What is Radiesse?

These days, there are several injectable treatments available for you to choose from when trying to turn back the hands of time. The Radiesse injectable wrinkle filler offered by board-certified dermatologist Dr. Mary Pentel is wonderful for mild to moderate wrinkles throughout the face and for fixing age-related volume loss in the hands. People who don't have time for repeat visits often prefer the lasting results (over a year in many cases) of Radiesse. With calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres in a flexible gel, this injectable plumps and smoothens your skin without invasive surgery. Radiesse is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to effectively and safely volumize your face. It can also be combined with other injectable wrinkle relaxers and fillers to rejuvenate your appearance. Look refreshed and boost your confidence with Radiesse injectable wrinkle treatments at Dermatology Southeast in Jacksonville, FL.

Is radiesse right for me?

Men and women who are in good overall health and want to correct their mild to moderate facial lines and wrinkles are ideal patients for Radiesse injectable treatments, which can address smile lines, marionette lines, pre-jowl folds, chin wrinkles, and lines that form around the edges of the mouth. Radiesse is also safe to address age-related volume loss in the hands so they look softer and more youthful. You should not receive this treatment if you are allergic to lidocaine or other ingredients in Radiesse. Be sure to talk to Dr. Pentel if you have any allergies (whether mild or severe) and disclose any relevant medical history. If you are breastfeeding, pregnant, might be pregnant, or are considering pregnancy in the next several years, you shouldn't get Radiesse treatments.

how is radiesse administered?

Radiesse dermal injections are administered on-site in one of the treatment rooms at Dermatology Southeast and generally take about 30 – 60 minutes once you've completed your consultation. To start the procedure, you'll sit comfortably as we clean and mark the injection sites. The dosage of Radiesse, chosen at your consultation, will be administered using an ultra-fine syringe. The marked injection sites will guide the injector who will carefully inject Radiesse into the skin. After the procedure is done, we may apply a cold compress to minimize bruising and swelling.

What happens after my treatment?

Following your Radiesse injection, you may have some swelling, bruising, or redness. This is common and should dissipate over a period of 5 – 10 days. These side effects can be covered with cosmetics. If they last longer than ten days or seem excessive, please do not hesitate to call Dermatology Southeast. Most patients may notice some improvements minutes after their treatment with final results appearing over time. Your face will appear softer, younger, and more radiant. Radiesse tends to last longer compared to other fillers: about 1 – 2 years. You should talk to Dr. Pentel at your consultation about when to schedule your next treatment to touch up your results.
