What is Voluma?

From the award-winning JUVÉDERM family of nonsurgical wrinkle fillers, VOLUMA XC is uniquely designed to replace lost volume in the mid-face, cheeks, and temple area. As you age, your cheeks will be one of the first areas where fat descends downward, creating facial hollows and a deflated-looking contour. As fat cells begin to shift downward, deep tissue folds (known as nasolabial folds) will form. JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC restores lost volume to create a lifted and youthful-looking shape. To correct a sunken mid-face that is flat and hollow due to weight loss, genetics, or age, contact Dermatology Southeast in Jacksonville, FL to schedule a consultation with seasoned dermatologist Dr. Mary Pentel.

Is voluma right for me?

VOLUMA is a hyaluronic acid (HA) injectable filler that can contour and lift your cheeks. Many people see decreased fullness in their cheeks as they age or after losing a significant amount of weight. Other patients have naturally hollow cheeks and want treatment to plump their mid-face. Women who are nursing or pregnant are not eligible for VOLUMA injections. VOLUMA is approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) for patients over the age of 21. To find out whether VOLUMA is the best filler for you, schedule a consultation with us today. Based on your medical history, needs, and goals, we can create a unique injectable treatment plan just for you.

how is voluma administered?

After your consultation with Dr. Pentel,  we may plan your procedure for your next appointment or perform it the same day, depending on availability. In a private treatment room, you'll relax as we clean your cheeks before administering VOLUMA. Your injector may also apply a local anesthetic to make the treatment more comfortable if desired. For precision, your injector will mark the areas needing treatment before administering the injections with a fine needle. After the filler is applied, you may experience some redness and swelling, but this typically subsides in a few days.

What happens after my treatment?

Most patients see the results of VOLUMA immediately, and those results last about two years. It's rare to develop lasting or severe side effects from VOLUMA injections; however, if you do have concerns or a reaction, please contact Dermatology Southeast immediately for more information. Common side effects include slight redness, irritation, or swelling at the injection site. These cases are usually extremely minor and subside in a few days. Talk to your injector when to schedule your next procedure to either build up or extend the effects of VOLUMA.
